Former F.O. Merz Facility Sells to Developer

Bobby Lyons, SIOR, CCIM is pleased to announce that the former F.O. Merz facility located at 630 Edgefield Road in Cowpens, SC has sold to a developer. The Covington Group purchased the property on June 25th, 2019 and has plans for a complete redevelopment of the property. Suminoe Textiles, a Japanese automotive supplier whose North American headquarters is in Cherokee County, began leasing the building in June, 2012 and is still the tenant.

Lyons began representing Fred and Nan Merz over 13 years ago when they closed their import / export business that they started in 1931. Lyons Industrial Properties began leasing the building to generate income for the family. Lyons continued to lease the facility to several tenants over the last 12 years and the decision was made this year to sell the asset.
